O'Cajcen the Aftermath of Hurrican Ike in Pearland and Sugar Land

I hope this finds you well in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.


Many people have asked how my sister, Lisa, and I (John) fared after Hurricane Ike and what happened to O'Cajcen in Pearland.
Fortunately, we were one of the lucky ones. We live in Sugar Land and only had minor damage. Our backyard fence was destroyed as well as our backyard shed. There's a picture below. Amazingly, all the stuff from the shed was still there, in a pile.

As for the restaurant, we made out ok. There was something that cut part of the roof causing a leak and causing some ceiling tiles to come down. But the worst part is having the power out still. Luckily we were able to save some of the food at our freezers at home, unfortunately we did lose a lot of the food.

All in all we are all happy that we are all safe. Our prayers go out to all those who weren't as fortunate during the storm.

My Biggest Helpers

Just in case you don't know, I have some secret helpers who help me keep the restaurant turning without me having to be there all the time. The biggest help is my mom and sister. My mom manages the kitchen while my sister runs the front. They help me to have a semi life as well as pursue some other projects.

Not only are they a huge help and you can always ask them anything. If you have any problems, we are here to help you. Here's a picture below of Lisa, her husband Shane (my newest employee) and their son Kohler (my youngest employee). Like I said if you need anything and your server can't help, just ask one of us. We are here to please.

Wow! What an amazing trip to Nashville. I went to Dan Kennedy's Marketing conference and it was amazing! Meet from Donald Trump's Apprentice, George Ross, Kristi Frank and Gene Simmons. Amazing and so down to earth.

Also, you have to see this hotel. Unbelievable and so romantic. Men if you are every in Nashville you have to take that special lady to the Gaylord Opryland. These photos were inside the actual hotel. Rivers, waterfalls, gardens...amazing!

Wanna be famous? Wanna be a star?

Well this past weekend, I was in the restaurant and a customer told me a funny thing. They were from New Orleans and tried our crawfish and many other items and they LOVED it!

The funny thing about it though was, they went online to look us up and read
everyone's comments, saw that we won Best Crawfish in Houston.

But she said..."Anyone could make those comments up! I didn't know if they were real until I tried the food."

Kinda shocking...what trouble to go through...but I agreed. People might not believe. Those are just words and people's names. What I need to put out there is real people. Not actors and not just words. I need video of REAL customers who LOVE what we have to offer.

So I figured why not ask my Loyal eClub members?

They Drove From Beaumont for Our Famous Crawfish

Watch this video of two guys who came to eat crawfish all the way from Beaumont. They told me it's better crawfish here than driving over the border to Louisiana.
They also know that Tuesdays is $3.99/LB for the Best crawfish in Houston.

Crawfish Specials in Houston, Pearland

I really goofed in yesterday's email and I applogize. My mistake is your gain. One of our great customer's Ben pointed out that yesterday's email was a little confusing. After reading it again, I have to agree. In it I stated "Take $1.00 OFF/LB. This week they will be $4.99/LB." Reading it like that, that would mean during the week they were $4.99/LB and $3.99/Lb on Tuesdays.

See...now you really should be able to tell I write my own emails. I really goofed...so YOU win! Starting tommorrow, Crawfish will go down a whole dollar per pound to $4.99/Lb and on Tuesdays from 4pm-9pm will only be $3.99/LB.

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2008 already. Man, I'm getting old fast (not in my fifties though, like some of you guessed during my birthday promo.)

Anyway, I wanted to remind you that its the new year and that means you can start to redeem your Red Envelopes! You never know - you could have a $10 or a $50 gift certificate in there. These are great crawfish, seasoned all the way through, not just sprinkled seasoning on the outside. Corn and potatos came with the bugs. The pricing is a little more than Ragin Cajun and Floyd's, but overall are a little better. We will be back."
